KELOWNA – Senator Ross Fitzpatrick isn’t getting out of the wine business completely.
His CedarCreek Estate Winery in Kelowna has been sold to Anthony von Mandl and VMF Estates, the owner of Mission Hill Family Estate Winery in West Kelowna.
CedarCreek wasn’t for sale. It was von Mandl who approached Fitzpatrick about a deal.
No one is saying how much von Mandl is paying for CedarCreek. The deal will close next month.
CedarCreek owns some of the best vineyards in Kelowna and Osyooos.
Fitzpatrick will hold onto the Greta Ranch Vineyard and Winery in Peachland.
"The CedarCreek philosophy of respect the land, honour tradition and pursue perfection has guided us well over the last 27 years, up to and including this final transaction,” Fitzpatrick said. “I cannot imagine a better place for CedarCreek given Anthony's commitment to the Valley and his goal to place the Okanagan on the international wine map.”
"Our family has long admired the pioneering achievements of Ross, Linda, and Gordon Fitzpatrick," von Mandl said. "The Fitzpatrick family… has been instrumental in making the Okanagan wine industry what it is today."
Along with Mission Hill and now CedarCreek, the von Mandl family owns the CheckMate Artisanal Winery just south of Oliver.
