TORONTO - Five things to watch for in the Canadian business world in the coming week:Telecom report

The Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services releases mid-year report on Tuesday. A report in November found that complaints received by Canadian telecom and TV customers over the 2017-18 period were up 57 per cent from the previous year, while the total number of issues they raised rose 67 per cent.

HBC earnings

HBC will hold a conference call to discuss financial results for its fourth quarter on Wednesday. The retailer recently announced the resignation of Hudson's Bay president Alison Coville, effective March 1.

Bank annual meetings

Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank, CIBC and TD Bank will hold their annual general meetings this week. The chief executives of Canada's five largest banks collectively earned roughly $63.2 million in total compensation during the 2018 financial year, up about 12 per cent from the previous year.

Goldcorp shareholder vote

Goldcorp Inc. holds a special shareholder meeting on Thursday to vote on a deal that will see the company acquired by Newmont Mining Corp. Under the friendly deal, Goldcorp shareholders have been offered 0.328 of a Newmont share and two cents in cash for each Goldcorp share they hold. Newmont shareholders vote on the deal on April 11.

Latest jobs numbers

Statistics Canada releases its labour force survey for March on Friday. The jobs numbers have started the year on a hot streak with gains of 66,800 net new jobs in January and another 55,900 in February.
