Cathedral Lakes Lodge on evacuation alert

PENTICTON - More wildfire activity is causing another evacuation alert in the district today. 

At about 2:45 p.m. today, July 29, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen issued an evacuation alert for the Cathedral Lakes Lodge in Electoral "G" in a media release.

An evacuation alert has been issued to alert the Lodge personnel to prepare guests in the event that visitors must leave the Park. In the event an evacuation order is issued, residents may have limited time to leave and should get prepared now.

B.C. Wildfire reports the fire in quesiton, Placer Mountain wildfire, is about 1017 hectares in size. 

An Area Restriction Order has been put in place as of noon yesterday, July 28th, for Crown land in the vicinity of Placer Lake to protect public safety and the safety of firefighting personnel.

B.C. Wildfire also says structural protection assessments are being carried out on identified structures within the vicinity of the fire. There are 98 firefighters, 12 heavy equipment and six helicopters working this wildfire.
