WEST KELOWNA - Things are looking up for at least one of the fire-affected areas in the Okanagan.

According to B.C. Wildfire, the Carrot Mountain fire near Smith Creek is no longer considered 'of note'. The blaze is actually a cluster of four fires west of West Kelowna.

Three of those small fires are considered spot-sized and either under control or out. The other fire is estimated at roughly 0.6 hectares, but is now listed as under control.

"These fires are located in steep terrain. Rappel crews have responded and good progress has been made on each of them, with one already out and three under control," B.C. Wildfire says on its website.

Lightning is the suspected cause of the four fires, along with several of the other larger wildfires that sparked in the Okanagan and Similkameen after a thunderstorm passed through earlier this week.
