Canadian hip-hop artist Luke Boyd, better known by his stage name Classified, is performing in Vernon later this month.

He's one of Canada’s most respected and successful rap artists and producers, with over 150 million streams globally, according to a Vernon Performing Arts Centre media release.

The stop in Vernon is part of a cross-country RETROSPECTED Tour with special guest Reeny Smith in celebration of the release of Boyd’s new acoustic album.

Boyd has been in the music business for more than 20 years and the tour features stripped down acoustic takes on some of his biggest hits.

“I'm so excited to finally bring this new style of show to the stage,” Boyd said in the release. “I've been releasing acoustic versions of songs for a while now and performing them on stage is a whole lot different than what my show for the last 20 years has been.

“This show feels so much more personal and intimate, and lets the audience get the stories behind the songs and hear some of the songs you know in a way no one's ever got to hear before.”

He has a combined 24 nominations and eight wins between the MuchMusic Video Awards, Juno Awards and East Coast Music Awards.

Boyd will be performing at the Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, as the fourth performance in the 2022/23 SPOTLIGHT Season’s Special Presentations Series.

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased here or by phoning the art centre’s box office at 250-549-SHOW.
