Canadian and international climbers will be travelling from far and wide to partake in Kelowna’s Rock the Blocs festival.
Rock the Blocs has been drawing in climbing enthusiasts since 2013. The event will take place at the Boulderfields in Kelowna and is now, ten years later, the largest outdoor bouldering competition in Canada.
“This festival got its start in 2013 as a way for local developers to engage the bouldering community and share one of the largest and best bouldering areas in this part of North America,” said the organizers on the Rock the Blocs website.
The festival is organized by the Okanagan Bouldering Society and admission will be completely free to the public. However, there will be big-ticket raffle prizes up for grabs, with the proceeds going to support the Okanagan Bouldering Society.
The festival includes a bouldering competition and a range of clinics aimed at getting the climbing community together and having some fun.
The event will be held on Sept. 9 and 10. The bouldering competition will take place on Saturday, with Sunday as a backup in case of poor weather.
More information about the festival can be found here on the Rock the Blocs website.
