KAMLOOPS – Repair of the water supply pipe in the Canada Games pool has been delayed, meaning you'll have to wait a few more days before you can swim indoors in Kamloops.
The city was rescheduled the re-opening to Monday, Aug. 10, at 6 a.m. The pool was originally scheduled to re-open Aug. 7.
The city did not say what caused the delay but the pool closed earlier than normal for seasonal maintenance when a pipe broke at the facility. The facility is normally closed for seasonal maintenance from Aug. 24 to Sept. 7 but had to close July 23 because of the pipe failure.
It was decided to do the maintenace at the same time as the pipe repair to save time.
Alternative public swimming and lesson options are available at McDonald Park and Brocklehurst outdoor pools and Riverside Park beach.
Swimming lessons originally scheduled at the centre between July 24 and Aug. 7 were cancelled. A new round of swimming lessons starts Aug. 24.
The Tournament Capital Centre is not affected by this closure and remains open as usual.
