Canada Day brings the heat to Penticton

Dry off your flip-flops for hot Canada Day weekend weather in Penticton.

PENTICTON - Overcast days have been hiding the summer sun but it's expected to change by the end of the week with 30 C+ temperatures for the Canada Day long weekend.

The temperatures pass the 25 C mark on Thursday with a high of 26 C followed by Friday's high of 30 C. Saturday and Sunday are expected to hit highs of 32 C each. Find some shade on Monday as it's expected to climb to 34 C. There is zero chance of showers for Thursday to Monday, Environment Canada stated.

The sun would be welcome after a week's worth of drizzly weather. Since June 1, 36.6 mm of rain has drenched Penticton's beaches. The past week alone saw 31.2 mm fall from June 17 to 22. This total doesn't even come close to 2012's June total of 95.7 mm of rain.
