Campbell Mountain Landfill will be open on Canada Day

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen has announced plans to open the Campbell Mountain Landfill on Canada Day, Saturday, July 1, 2017.

PENTICTON - It may not be holiday related, but City of Penticton and Regional District residents can add going to the dump as an additional activity to their Canada Day list.

The Campbell Mountain Landfill will open on Canada Day, Saturday, July 1 for the first time, maintaining regular operating hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., according to a Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen media release.

The opening is a trial run to see if residents will take advantage of the holiday operation, the ultimate goal being to reduce longer lineups that traditionally occur after statutory holidays, the District says.

Depending on the outcome of this trial, the District may keep Campbell Mountain Landfill open on future holidays.

The Oliver and Okanagan Falls landfills will be closed on Canada Day.
