Break-in at Kelowna hair salon

FILE PHOTO

KELOWNA - A computer containing all of a Kelowna hair salon's client bookings was stolen when the business was broken into early Saturday morning.

A passerby noticed the front door of the Mod Salon at 2900 Pandosy St. - had been smashed around 5 a.m. Saturday, July 22, and flagged down a police car that was driving by, according to manager Nicole Malko.

The salon's computer was stolen, which held all of their current and past client bookings.

“It looked like a bomb blasted through our salon,” Malko says. “It definitely doesn’t feel good seeing your second home totally violated and ransacked.”

Other than the broken door and broken product, the only thing taken from the hair salon was their computer. However, the computer houses all the information regarding current and past bookings.

“We’ve disabled the computer so it’s a hunk of junk to anyone else, but it’s so valuable to us, it’s been crazy trying to pick up the pieces,” Malko says. “We’re asking anyone with current or past bookings to contact the salon immediately.”

The cost of the damage is unknown at this time but Malko says it is significant and won’t be cheap.
