KAMLOOPS - A North Shore store is offering a reward in their appeal to the public for more information on a theft earlier this week.

Gwen McKay, the general manager at the Penny Pinchers store on Fortune Drive says video footage show a man stealing a $600 mattress around 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 7.

“He went out the side door with it when the furniture department was unattended. The guy was in the store for two hours casing it out,” she says. “When people steal it just hurts businesses."

McKay says the store deals with theft every day, but given this item has a higher price management felt it necessary to ask the public for help in figuring out who it might have been.

Managers are in touch with RCMP and used the store's Facebook page to post photos and a video of the alleged thief. Penny Pinchers is offering a $200 reward for anyone who comes forward with information leading to an arrest and conviction.

A spokesperson from Kamloops RCMP was unavailable for comment.
