One man is in hospital after the latest in a string of shootings in Kamloops.
He was spotted with obvious injuries, along with a car hit by gunfire, police said today, May 7.
Kamloops RCMP was called to the Ramada Hotel on West Columbia Street around 7 p.m., May 6. A silver car was seen fleeing the parking lot, but no suspects were caught.
The unnamed man is the first person to be shot in a string of incidents that are all believed to be linked to the local drug trade.
How they are each connected isn't clear, but police say it's part of an "ongoing" conflict.

“As our teams continue their efforts, we’re asking residents to please be aware that these targeted attacks are occurring in public settings and present an increased risk to safety,” Staff Sgt. Todd Wiebe of Kamloops RCMP said in a news release.
Police units are working "around the clock" to suppress the violence, while the detachment is also getting support from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement of BC.
The first of the previous three shootings was at the Star Lodge, not far from the Ramada.
The other two were near two homes in North Kamloops. One person was taken into custody after each of those shootings, along with two getaway vehicles.
“We understand these kinds of violent crimes are concerning to the community, and rightfully so, considering the risk they present to all residents,” Supt. Jeff Pelley of Kamloops RCMP said in a Sunday news release.
“As we work to advance these investigations and hold those responsible to account, we continue to reach out to the public and ask for its assistance and support in reviewing security footage, reporting activities that could be related, and contacting police with information they may have about those involved.”
A suspect in the Ramada shooting is described as male with a lean build, standing between 5'10" and 6', with a hunch in his upper back. He was wearing all black, including a hat with a logo on its front, a jacket with a "sheen", gloves with a red trim and sunglasses.
Police have released a stock image of the suspect vehicle, a grey Honda Civic, that seen fleeing the shooting and was found abandoned on Ord Road early Tuesday morning.
