VERNON – The investigation into a brazen daytime shooting in Polson Park yesterday afternoon continues today with police releasing more details about the incident.

The victim of the shooting is a 21-year-old Vernon man, according to an RCMP press release. He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP also say they believe the shooting was targeted. They did not say if they have any suspects.

The park, which had been closed and evacuated, has reopened to the public.

Investigators are still seeking witnesses to the shooting. Anyone who saw what happened and hasn’t talked to the police yet is asked to call the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171.
