Publisher of Muscle Mag, 'Eat-Clean Diet' series files for bankruptcy

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - The company that produced such magazines as Muscle Mag International, Reps!, Oxygen, American Curves and Clean Eating has filed for bankruptcy.

Canusa, parent company of Mississauga, Ont.-based Robert Kennedy Publishing, which also produced the bestsellers "Hardcore Bodybuilding" and the "Eat-Clean Diet" series, officially shut its doors June 7, according to a release Tuesday.

Canusa's founder, Robert (Bob) Kennedy, died last year. His wife of eight years, Tosca Reno, said she "reluctantly" took over the "distressed" business.

"Robert was a tremendous visionary who grew a unit of bodybuilding, health, fitness and clean-eating magazines and books, that were global staples, in its long-distant prime days," she wrote.

"Due to many years of financial difficulty, I was forced to make the decision to restructure the business as a whole in order to allow our brands, Oxygen, Clean Eating and The Eat-Clean Diet to possibly find a new home, where my hope is they can thrive again."
