Body of man missing in Kamloops's Thompson River found by divers

FILE PHOTO

RCMP divers have found the body of a man who went missing in the North Thompson River in Kamloops last week.

The RCMP dive team located a body today, Feb. 2, which matched the description of a man who had gone missing in the North Thompson River on Thursday night.

He was found in shallow water near the area where he was last seen, according to the RCMP in a press release.

On Jan. 28, a man in a blue jacket was seen entering the river where he bobbed up and down before submerging entirely. Witnesses did not see the man return to the surface.

The B.C. Coroners Service and RCMP are investigating the incident and police are not releasing further information at this time.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP rural detachment at 250-314-8000.
