Body found in Lumby home destroyed by fire

A body has been found at a house in Lumby destroyed by fire.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, what is believed to be human remains were found inside the home.

The blaze took hold in the early hours of June 3 with crews arriving on the scene at 2 a.m. as the home on Mountainview Avenue in Lumby was fully engulfed in flames.

Three people managed to get out of the property safely and the house was completely destroyed.

"The cause of the fire remains undetermined, however, based on findings from the preliminary investigation, no criminality is suspected," Vernon North Okanagan RCMP Const. Chris Terleski. "An examination of the scene was completed and what are believed to be human remains were found inside the home."

The BC Coroners Service is also now conducting its own investigation.
