BLAZERS WEEK IN REVIEW, JANUARY 6

Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Seattle Thunderbirds – 7-1 Win

The Blazers broke out for seven goals in a 7-1 win to close out 2013. Joe Kornelsen had a goal and two assists, while Cole Ully had two goals. Collin Shirley and Tyson Ness also had multi-point games each finishing with a goal and an assist. Taran Kozun was solid in goal with 33 saves for the win. Click here for Highlights and Recap. 

Friday, January 3, 2014 at Prince George Cougars – 9-5 Loss

Goals were easy to come by in Prince George with the Cougars scoring nine of them for a 9-5 win over the Blazers. Todd Fiddler and Klarc Wilson each had a hat-trick for the Cougars. Joe Kornelsen had two goals for the Blazers. Jake Kryski had two assists in his WHL debut as a 15-year-old. Cole Ully also had two assists and Ryan Rehill had a goal and an assist in the loss. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Prince George Cougars – 3-1 Loss

The Blazers struggled to get any offense going as they fell 3-1 in the second half of a doubleheader in Prince George. Marc McNulty, Klarc Wilson and Zach Pochiro each finished with a goal and an assist for the Cougars. Cole Ully was the lone goal scorer for the Blazers with Josh Connolly picking up the assist on the play. Taran Kozun took the loss in goal despite making 37 saves. Kryski Debuts with Blazers

The Kamloops Blazers had 15-year-old forward Jake Kryski in the line-up for two weekend games in Prince George. Kryski is the coveted prospect acquired for 20-year-old goaltender Cole Cheveldave this past summer. The dynamic forward did not disappoint finishing with two assists in his first WHL game.

Kryski is playing this season with the Okanagan Rockets of the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League. In 24 games this season, Kryski has 28 points for the first place Rockets.

The 5’11” forward was also just named to the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League All-Star game. The all-star game will be held on January 17, 2014 in Langley, BC.

Alumni Update: Dylan Willick

Dylan Willick (2009-2013) has been playing this season for the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Varsity Reds in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). 

Willick has played 13 games this season and has recorded two goals for the defending CIS Champions. UNB currently sits in second place in the eight-team AUS conference.

Willick played out his 20-year-old season with the Blazers last year and was the team captain. The hard working forward played 266 career games with the Blazers compiling 157 points. He also played 30 playoff games scoring 11 goals and finishing with 19 points.

Prospect Update: Cam Reagan

Defenseman Cam Reagan (4th round, 2012) is playing this season with the Midget AAA Sherwood Park Kings in the Alberta Midget Hockey League 

The 16-year-old has three goals and 14 assists for 17 points in 26 games this season as the Kings sit in first place in their division. 

Reagan recently played in the Mac’s Midget Tournament in Calgary as his team made it to the semi-finals before falling to Switzerland’s U-17 team. The 6’0” and 200lb defender finished with four assists in the tournament.

Nick Chyzowski and Team Pacific Claim Silver Medal

Nick Chyzowski of the Kamloops Blazers won a Silver Medal at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Nova Scotia with Team Pacific this past weekend. Chyzowski finished with two assists in the tournament as Team Pacific lost 4-0 in the final to the USA.
