With record crowds turning out for Big White's B.C. Family Day long weekend celebrations, the ski resort is reporting a financial windfall.
The resort saw a 67 per cent increase in skier visits, 62 per cent increase in school visits and accommodation was up 56 per cent. Events included an outdoor carnival on Sunday.
"There were smiles all around the resort" says resort senior vice president Michael J. Ballingall. "I was most encouraged by the amount of first time visitors and those coming from the lower mainland."
And with the success of Family Day weekend behind them, the resort is now looking forward to giving families a break during spring vacation.
Families are welcome between March 1 and April 13 to take advantage of a special allowing children 12 and under to ski and stay at the resort for free. Families receive a complimentary child lift pass with every adult pass purchased.
Families take to the slopes during B.C.'s first official Family Day long weekend.
