Aerialists, acrobats and motorcycle thrill riders are just a few of the eight incredible shows the Royal Canadian International Circus is bringing to the Okanagan this summer.

The circus will be in town from July 7 to 10 and it's the first time it has stopped in Kelowna. It promises to give all ages a glimpse into the traditional world of the circus. The air-conditioned Big Top will be set up in the Orchard Park Shopping Centre parking lot.

“The show is jam-packed with explosive live entertainment featuring acts that will mesmerize, amaze and astound you,” the circus said in a media release. “The all-new Royal Canadian International Circus 2022 will unveil generations of circus families from all over the world that go back 10 generations.”

The show includes daredevil extraordinaire Joseph Dominik Bauer of Switzerland on the Wheel of Destiny, flying trapeze artist Claudia Alvarado of Mexico, the astounding Chicago Boyz Acrobatic Team from America’s Got Talent and the powerhouse Motorcycle Thrill Riders in the Globe of Death.

“Born to Swiss parents, Bauer comes from a ninth generation pedigree of circus performers,” the circus said. “His accomplishments in the world of the circus and aerial thrills are astonishing. Bauer is one of the most sought-after ringmasters in the circus world.”

Tenor Gimmi Fornaciari from Italy will go high in the air and sing, and there will be a Laserman, Human Slinky, a comedy performance and the TZ Ladies of the Air.

“Gimmi, who hails from Italy, and is one of the only performers who sings tenor while executing unbelievable acrobatic hand balancing maneuvers high in the air,” the circus said. “He has performed with many renowned shows throughout the world including Cirque Italia.

“You will see incredible death-defying feats of skill and bravery as the Motorcycle Thrill Globe of Death zoom around a steel cage,” the circus said. “These seasoned elite dare devils use speed and guts, as they are constantly raising the bar beyond your wildest dreams. There is no room for error, even though they are veterans in the Globe.”

The Royal Canadian International Circus is also stopping in other Canadian cities and some in the states this year, with the other two stops in the province in Surrey and Richmond.
