Bear spray used in robbery

Officers attend the scene of a robbery on Tranquille Road this afternoon.

KAMLOOPS - RCMP were called to Dynasty Garden Restaurant at Tranquille Road and Palm Street around 12:20 p.m. today after a man used bear spray on several workers after demanding money.

Police say a male suspect demanded money from an employee and then sprayed multiple workers before fleeing on foot.

An ambulance was seen leaving the scene around 12:45 p.m. while several police officers canvassed nearby businesses. Police dogs and an RCMP helicopter crew unsuccessfully tried to locate the suspect, described as a six-foot Caucasian male in his mid- to late-30s with short brown hair. He was wearing a red jersey, black shorts and a camouflage-coloured backpack at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
