The Lower Mainland will continue to be hotter than usual this week.

Environment Canada said temperatures 5 to 10 C above seasonal in Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, Whistler, Sunshine Coast, Southern Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island through Monday and Tuesday.

"After a relatively cool start to the weekend, temperatures have been on the rise again today. The current guidance indicates that the daytime temperatures will peak in the low-thirties on Monday at locations away from the immediate coast," the national weather agency said in a weather alert.

"The ridge associated with this warm spell will start shifting inland on Tuesday afternoon, ushering the hot air into the Interior. After a slightly cooler period mid-week, the ridge is likely to rebuild from Thursday onward and herald more dry and very warm conditions."
