BC SPCA lottery for animals in need is back

It pays to play in the BC SPCA’s Lottery for animals in need. Just ask Jean and David Ledgerwood, who won last year’s early bird prize of $8,000. The couple, who have helped countless cats and kittens by fostering and helping care for outdoor felines for 35 years, were surprised to hear they’d won.

“We were so thrilled! We never win anything,” says Jean. “We always buy tickets – the odds are great, the tickets are reasonably priced and the money goes to a fantastic cause – helping animals."

With a new 50/50 bonus draw that could net a lucky winner up to $26,000, this year’s BC SPCA Lottery for animals in need is back. An annual event, the lottery raises funds to help abused, neglected, injured and homeless animals across the province.

“Who doesn’t want a chance to win some extra cash? There’s $100,000 in cash prizes to be won,” says Carina Stirling, BC SPCA officer of fundraising events and lottery. “It’s a win-win for animal lovers as well as British Columbia’s most vulnerable animals.”

Sponsored by CTV and TV Week, tickets for the lottery are $25 each or three for $60 and five for $90. Tickets for the 50/50 draw are $10 each, or five for $25 and 10 for $40. The early bird prize deadline is May 2 and the final lottery tickets sales deadline is May 19.

For tickets and for more information, visit spca.bc.ca/lottery or call 1-855-205-5998.

Ticket purchasers must be 19 years of age or older and tickets can only be sold in B.C. Know your limit, play within it.
