THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - Road trips are a great way to see this magnificent province of ours but need to be planned out carefully, especially if you have little ones.
Not only do you need to have snacks, drinks and activities to help keep them from getting cranky, you need to plan regular bathroom and stretching breaks.
Luckily, the Ministry of Transportation has made it a bit easier to plan that part of your trip. The ministry has created a handy map which shows the 170 rest areas maintained by the province, along with information about the type of toilets (pit, compost or full flush), whether it can be accessed from both sides of the highway and if larger vehicles can access it.
Many of the rest areas include tables and some offer scenic viewpoints — the perfect opportunity to enjoy a picnic lunch outdoors and stretch your legs, while you explore our beautiful province.
