A B.C. nurse who delivered narcotics to the wrong address has been suspended for two days.
Licenced practical nurse Ravneet Kaur Kaler was supposed to physically hand over the narcotics to patients when delivering for a pharmacy, but instead put them through the wrong mail slot.
According to a Feb. 24 B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives decision, the incident took place in September 2021 while Kaler was employed by a Surrey-based community pharmacy program that delivered and administered medication to patients in their homes.
"(Kaler) did not follow relevant standards, employer policies, and instructions when she delivered narcotics through a mail slot, thereby not engaging in any assessment or evaluation of the patient's health status and causing a potential breach of this patient's personal health information as the delivery was made to the wrong address," the decision reads.
