BC Conservative Peter Milobar has won in Kamloops-Centre after not only switching political parties but also ridings.
From 2017 to 2024, Milobar served as BC Liberal MLA for the Kamloops-North Thompson riding. He flipped to join the BC Conservatives after his former party, now called BC United, dropped out of the campaign.
Vowing to stay true to his beliefs, and remain the same centre-right politician he was with the previous party, he took the candidacy from Dennis Giesbrecht last month, who in turn was parachuted into the Vernon-Lumby riding.
Kamloops voters have kept Milobar in office for more than 20 years, having been first elected to city council in 2002, going on to become the city's longest-serving mayor from 2008 until the 2017 provincial election.
