A B.C. airline is pitching the idea to run daily flights from Vernon to Vancouver.

Cascadia Air plans to introduce the flights using a small eight-passenger plane.

According to a City of Vernon report, the airline has asked for a letter of support from the City. The report states the airline needs a letter of support to submit to Transport Canada to obtain an air operating certificate.

Cascadia Air plans to operate one flight per day either in the mid-morning or mid afternoon, and services will be either increased or decreased depending on demand.

The report says Cascadia Air's demand-based service means that flights only occur when tickets are booked.

There's no date on when the flights will start but the company says it would like to start offering flights as soon as possible.

Cascadia Air currently runs daily flights from a hand full of small B.C airports including Penticton. A one-way ticket from Penticton to Vancouver costs $216.

Vernon council is set to vote May 9 on whether to approve the letter of support.
