CP NewsAlert: Former San Diego Padres great Tony Gwynn dies after battle with cancer

TORONTO - The San Diego Padres have reported on their website that Hall of Fame baseball player Tony Gwynn has died. Gwynn had 3,141 hits and a .338 batting average over 20 seasons, all with the Padres.

Gwynn, 54, had been battling salivary gland cancer.
