Bad luck a factor in woman's arrest

A Vernon woman is expected to face numerous charges after she had the fortune of being pulled over by the very same officer who arrested her a month ago for driving while prohibited.

The 47-year-old from Vernon was pulled over at about 3:30 p.m. Feb. 4 when an officer noticed the red 1991 Astro Van in the area of 43rd Avenue and 29th Street and suspected it was the same driver he charged Jan. 8 for driving while prohibited. He believed she was still prohibited.

While the officer was in the process of arresting her, he happened to notice what appeared to be cocaine inside the van in plain view. An investigation led to the seizure of more than $3900, 14.63 grams of cocaine, 8.54 grams marijuana and a number of unknown pills. The van was impounded.

The woman may face charges of prohibited driving and possession for the purpose of trafficking. She may also face addition counts after further analysis of the pills are complete. She was released on a promise to appear to attend court at a later date.
