Back-to-back robberies in Kamloops on Halloween night

Employees at two Kamloops grocery stores found themselves in danger when trying to stop robberies Halloween night.

Kamloops RCMP responded to a store on the 1200-block of Summit Drive where a woman was leaving with unpaid items, according to a press release.

An employee tried to stop her from leaving, but was then assaulted with a weapon, according to the report given to police. Police say the employee went to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police responded around 8:45 p.m., Oct. 31, and arrested the suspect nearby, RCMP said.

Payge Elizabeth Dyer, 23, is facing charges for robbery and assault with a weapon.

Just before that robbery, a man left a grocery store on the 900-block of Columbia Street West around 8:35 p.m. This suspect is still unidentified.

As he was on his way out of the store with dog food, electronics and a cheese platter, an employee confronted the suspect.

The suspect then pulled out a knife.

“We’re releasing the description of the stolen items in hopes someone saw the man walking with two large bags of dog food and a cheese platter, and can help identify a suspect,” Const. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, said in the release.

The man is described as Caucasian and 6' tall. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a grey jacket and blue jeans with a green backpack.

Police say the man appeared to leave on foot.
