Aerospace centre explosion in India kills 1, injures 3

BANGALORE, India - A suspected hydrogen cylinder blast in a southern India aerospace centre has killed one researcher and seriously injured three others.

The Indian Institute of Science says in a statement that the blast happened on Wednesday and that the cause is under investigation.

The New Delhi Television channel says one researcher was hurled 20 feet (8 metres) by the blast.

The injured people suffered severe burns and fractures and were taken to a hospital for surgery.

The institute is known for research and higher education in science, engineering, design and management.

It is located in Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka state.
