China's economic growth decelerated in the final quarter of 2013 and appears set to slow further, adding to pressure on its leaders to shore up an expansion as they try to implement sweeping reforms. BEIJING, China - China's economy grew by 7.7 per cent last year, tying 2012 for the weakest performance since the 1990s, after its expansion eased in the final quarter.

Government data on Monday showed the economy grew 7.7 per cent in the three months ending in December. That was down from 7.8 per cent the previous quarter.

The slower growth has put pressure on the country's communist leaders to avoid politically dangerous job losses as they try to carry out promised reforms aimed at making the economy more productive.
