KELOWNA -  The Kelowna Art Gallery invites families of all shapes and sizes to join us this Family Day – Monday, February 13 – from 10 am to 4 pm for a full day of art activities, family-friendly tours, and special programming for children and adults.

Come in out of the cold and explore the four fascinating exhibitions on view before getting creative with a hands-on art activity. Two of the shows to see are Fabrications, which features great big immersive installations (including one you can lie down in) by artists, Gisele Amantea, Yael Brotman, Libby Hague, and Laura Vickerson; and Monitor, which has work created by UBC Okanagan BFA students and examines issues of internet surveillance. It features 14 different videos and projections that appear on screens mounted throughout the gallery space that visitors can explore.

Families can create colourful abstract monotype prints using yarn and fabric on cotton tote bags that will be supplied. The bags feature a logo commemorating our 40th anniversary, which makes them something to take home and save. Everything participants will need for the activity will be provided and the Gallery’s helpful staff will be on hand to assist with the activity.

The cost for all this is just $5 per participant, and includes admission and a complimentary tour of the exhibitions at either 1 pm or 3 pm.

The Kelowna Art Gallery is located at 1315 Water Street in the heart of the Cultural District in downtown Kelowna. For hours of operation, or more information about programs available or current exhibitions, please visit the Kelowna Art Gallery online at www.kelownaartgallery.com or call 250-762-2226.
