Apex Trail at Knox Mountain Park now a one-way

Knox Mountain has gotten so busy during pandemic precautions, the City of Kelowna has had to add lanes to keep people apart.

If it wasn't before, the park with a view of the city at the top, has become where people take their daily walks allowed under social isolation recommendations, but with so many people it's become difficult to maintain distance.

The City changed the Apex Trail to one-way only until further notice.

Park users can use the Apex Trail to go up the mountain and Knox Mountain Drive to go back down and signs have been added, according to the City of Kelowna in a news release.

"This change will put more physical distance between hikers and bikers using the park to help reduce risk of transmitting COVID-19. Knox Mountain Drive will remain closed to vehicle traffic until further notice," according to the release.

For more information on the city’s measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, visit the city's website. More park information can also be found online.

Regional districts in the Central Okanagan have shut down playgrounds. Parks are still open at this time.
