New Afton Mine west of Kamloops has announced another positive COVID-19 case.
The mine was made aware of the employee who had tested positive on Jan. 28, according to a New Gold press release.
After contact tracing, New Gold does not suspect this case to be related to the confirmed case on Jan. 25. Both employees are self isolating for 14 days .
According to the mine's emergency protocols, all affected areas have been sanitized and contact tracing measures in place are being used to contact anyone at the mine who would have been at risk to the most recent case.
"Our emergency operations team will continue to evaluate existing controls and implement additional measures wherever possible. We are confident in the preventative measures we have in place on site," the release reads.
