KELOWNA - More than 150 trunks will be popped at Okanagan College in Kelowna this Saturday for the semi-annual Trunk Sale.

The unique event is the largest of its kind in the Central Okanagan and organizer Rae Stewart is expecting yet another busy year.

The Trunk Sale is put on by the Regional Waste Reduction Office, which works to promote reusing, recycling and keeping unnecessary items out of landfills.

Stewart, Waste Reduction Facilitator, says that the event has filled to capacity for vendors, but she welcomes everyone to come shop on sale day.

"No need to drive around from community to community and sale to sale, you can have a more focused garage sale experience, save on time and gas," she says in a media release.

Stewart credits the success of the event to the support of the community. The Okanagan Mission Lions Club will have volunteers helping with directing traffic and serving a pancake breakfast and lunch.

Once all the shoppers have left satisfied, vendors will have the opportunity to donate any remaining items to various charities such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Kelowna and District SHARE Society, Planet Earth Recycling and the Canadian Diabetes Clothesline group.

The Trunk Sale is free to attend, and begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, at Okanagan College, 1000 KLO Rd. The sale will take place in parking lot 17 next the Student Residence Building off West Campus Road.
