LYTTON - An Alberta man was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway south of Lytton this morning.
RCMP say at around 9:30 a.m. today, Sept. 5, a motorcycle heading east on Highway 1 near Jackass Mountain Summit left the roadway and crashed. The rider, a 69-year-old Alberta man was killed.
"Witnesses to the collision reported the motorcycle was being operated normally, at or near the speed limit, when the collision occurred," RCMP E Division Traffic Services media relations officer Cpl. Mike Halskov said in the release.
The Trans-Canada was completely closed for a few hours before reopening to single lane traffic. The highway completely reopened at about 4:30 p.m.
Anyone with information regarding this collision who has not spoken with police is asked to call Lytton RCMP at 250-455-2225.
