Canadians who take Adderall don’t have to worry about local pharmacies running out.

The prescription medication is in short supply south of the border however. A shortage remains active that was first announced by the US Food and Drug Administration on Oct. 22, 2022.

“Health Canada is aware of a reported shortage of Adderall in the US due to manufacturing disruptions,” a spokesperson for Health Canada said in an email.

“Adderall is a name brand of mixed salts amphetamines used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).”

Adderall and its generic version are produced by four manufacturers in Canada.

“Health Canada has followed up with the four manufacturers and, based on the information they’ve provided, there is sufficient supply of MSAs in Canada at this time.”

Actual or anticipated drug shortages are required to be reported by manufacturers, and shortage reports can be found here.

“Health Canada will continue to monitor the situation and will not hesitate to take action to ensure sufficient supply and minimize any impact on patients in Canada.”
