The 36-year-old man charged with trying to start a wildfire in the Glenrosa neighbourhood of West Kelowna earlier this month appeared in court yesterday and was remanded in custody.

A man was spotted in the bush behind homes in the 3000 block of Webber Road in West Kelowna on July 10 where a fire was lit.

Residents put out the fire and RCMP arrested a man that evening but he was released pending charges being filed.

Stephen Leader, 36, was charged with arson in relation to an inhabited property yesterday, July 22.

At the court hearing he was remanded in custody.

His next scheduled court appearance is scheduled for July 29.
