A request to Kelowna businesses as Canada's future arrives

KELOWNA - The best, brightest and the most action-oriented young leaders in Canada arrive in Kelowna this week.

Canada's next generation of influential leaders start arriving in the city on Tuesday for the annual Canadian Student Leadership Conference.

The six day event includes over 800 grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 students from 173 schools and 11 of our country's provinces and territories.

Superintendent of Schools Hugh Gloster and the rest of the adminstration at the district are asking every business with a public sign or reader board to put up the message, "Welcome CSLC 2014 Delegates."

It's the first time in its 30 year history the conference has been held in the Central Okanagan.

A welcome carnival and festival will officially kick-off the event on Tuesday at 2 p.m. on an outdoor stage at the Evangel Church on Gordon Drive, the conference's host site.

Organizers say the public is welcome to take in the opening day events which include a performance by Happiness Now, a dance group from Los Angeles.
