78-year-old Penticton stabbing victim recovering

The victim involved in a domestic stabbing incident in Penticton last Friday continues to recover from her injuries, her advocate says.

PENTICTON - The victim of last week's stabbing incident in Penticton is recovering from her injuries.

Victim advocate Suzanne Lougheed said today the 78-year-old woman isn’t ready to speak about the incident at this point, but said said she is "making progress" in her recovery.

Lougheed said the suspect, the victim's husband, will be undergoing tests for mental health issues.

Penticton RCMP were called to the 3300 block of Skaha Lake Road early Friday morning, Sept. 6, to find a woman had been stabbed repeatedly with a kitchen knife.

The woman was reported by police to have been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Guenter Volkmar Spoerlein, 77 has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.
