Police say they are investigating a Boxing Day homicide near 70 Mile House.

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit is investigating after Clinton RCMP was called just after 11:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, RCMP discovered a 52-year-old man with critical injuries and began life-saving efforts, according to a news release.

However, despite the efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene by B.C. Ambulance personnel.

"One 62-year-old man, who is known to the victim, was arrested and has since been released but has not yet been charged, as the investigation continues. Investigators believe that this is an isolated incident and there's no ongoing risk to the public," Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of the B.C. RCMP said.

Investigators will remain in the Clinton area. No further information is available at this time.
