Contestants of a 580-kilometre adventure race will begin their trek this weekend, including a zip on Canada's highest freestyle zipline.
The Epic Adventure Race at ZipZone Peachland takes place tomorrow, June 5 between noon and 8 p.m., according to a press release issued by the company.
Contestants will zip across the Deep Creek Gorge and then rappel down the face of the canyon, into the icy waters of Deep Creek. From there they hike out of the canyon and continue their race, according to ZipZone.
The Epic Adventure Race is organized by Hoodoo Adventures, an adventure company based in Penticton. The total race takes place during a span of four to six days throughout the Okanagan Valley. It begins tomorrow.
The race involves trekking, trail running, mountain biking, kayaking and canoeing, orienteering and rappelling. Mixed, male, female, young and masters teams of four must navigate their way, unsupported through an arduous 580 km course that is only revealed to them hours before.
There are no mandatory stops or optional controls.
