A woman was treated for minor injuries after veering off the edge of Bear Creek Road in the Central Okanagan early this morning.

In her late-model Honda, the woman failed to complete a turn, ending up 75 metres over the embankment at around 4 a.m. today, Sept. 21, according to a Central Okanagan Search and Rescue media release.

She called for help using Siri, and about five hours later, search crews found her.

"It was great teamwork from all parties involved that brought this to a successful conclusion," search and rescue search manager Duane Tresnich said in the release.

She was disoriented and treated for minor injuries before paramedics took her from the scene.

This year, Central Okanagan Search and Rescue has responded to 81 calls. They reached a record amount of calls in 2020 with 84.
