PENTICTON  - Fire danger has resulted in the rescheduling of the Apex 4X4 Jamboree.

The meeting of 4x4 enthusiasts, scheduled for Aug. 4 to Aug.7 at Apex Mountain will take place at a later date, says the head of local 4x4 group After The Blacktop Ends.

President Brent Boychuk said yesterday, Aug. 2, the event date has been cancelled, but not the event itself.

“We are postponing the event to a later date due to the extremely high risk of fire,” Boychuk says, adding the group has been communicating  with Apex and the province over the issue.

“With all the fire bans and trail closures to motorized vehicles, we see no sense in proceeding with this event at this time. The risk outweighs the potential outcome,” he says.
