379 new COVID-19 cases in B.C.; 94 in Interior Health

There were 379 new COVID-19 cases reported in the past 24 hours in B.C. and of those, 94 were in the Interior Health region.

There were 2,874 active cases of COVID in B.C., according to a Ministry of Health media release issued today, Dec. 8.

There were 104 new cases in Fraser Health, 64 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 49 new cases in Northern Health and 65 new cases in Island Health.

Of those active cases, 224 people are in hospital and 77 are in intensive care. The rest are recovering in self-isolation at home.

Six new deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. No new deaths were reported in the Interior Health region.

As of today, 85.8% of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 82.1% have received their second dose.

Meanwhile, 91.4% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 88.3% received their second dose and 11% have received a third dose.
