Power has been mostly restored across the Shuswap region and part of the North Okanagan after and outage left more than 26,000 B.C. Hydro customers without electricity this morning.

Just before 10 a.m. today, Nov. 10, transmission circuit failures cut power for customers in Chase, Salmon Arm, Monte Lake, Enderby and Spallumcheen, according to B.C. Hydro. There were 10 listed outages affecting around 26,250 customers.

B.C. Hydro spokesperson Dave Cooper told iNFOnews.ca crews were able to reconnect power to the vast majority of them before 10:30 a.m.

In Chase, 2,888 customers were still in the dark at that time, but he said crews are working to restore power to that final area.

Although the outages were listed as ten separate incidents, Cooper said they were all related and caused by a tripped transmission circuit.

He couldn't say when B.C. Hydro expects to reconnect Chase-area customers, but he said any updates would be posted on its website here.
