254 new COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths in Interior Health over 3 days

In the last three days, Interior Health has reported 254 new COVID-19 cases and six deaths due to the disease.

There were 1,618 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. with 613 cases reported from Oct. 22 to 23, 529 cases from Oct. 23 to 24 and 476 cases reported Oct. 24 to 25, according to a Ministry of Health media release.

There are 4,966 active COVID-19 cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 195,055 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 366 individuals are in hospital and 149 are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

A total of 699 new cases were recorded in Fraser Health, 190 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 289 in Northern Health and 186 cases in Island Health.

In the past 72 hours, 20 new deaths, including six in Interior Health, have been reported in B.C. for an overall total of 2,129 since the start of the pandemic.

As of Monday, Oct. 25, 90% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 84% have received their second dose.

In addition, 90% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 85% have received their second dose.

There have been five new health-care facility outbreaks in the province including Chilliwack General Hospital, Valleyhaven Retirement Community, Harrison Pointe, Norman Manor (Fraser Health) and Amica Edgemont (Vancouver Coastal Health). The outbreak at Tofino General Hospital (Island Health) has been declared over.

There are five active outbreaks in Interior Health care facilities including Cottonwoods Care Centre, Overlander, Village by the Station, Haven Hill Retirement Centre and Deni House.

Since December 2020, the province has administered 8,156,567 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.
