2020 Dream Rally cancelled, plans for 2021 begin

Luxury cars drew plenty of eyes at the Dream Rally.

The popular community event that raises spirits and funds with fast, exotic cars is taking a break for 2020.

The Okanagan Dream Rally, presented by the August Family Foundation, has seen drivers of luxury vehicles accompanied by young co-pilots make their way from Kelowna to Penticton and back every summer but COVID-19 has thrown a wrench in the wheel of that plan.

"With a heavy heart we have made the mindful decision to make 2020 a Pit Stop for the Okanagan Dream Rally allowing us to tune our engines and come back bigger and better than ever on Aug.1, 2021," reads a statement.

"Since 2016 the Okanagan Dream Rally has been an annual event impacting and positively changing the lives of thousands of people each year. The Dream Rally Team is incredibly grateful for the on-going support of our sponsors, donors, drivers, dream rally families and unbelievable Okanagan community. Without you, everything we’ve created and the funds we’ve raised would not have been possible."

In just four years the Okanagan Dream Rally has raised over $1.6 million for local charities including, The Ronald McDonald House BC/Yukon, JoeAnna’s House, Autism Okanagan, COHA, and KidSport.

The 2019 Okanagan Dream Rally raised $804,000 for charity with proceeds going directly to Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon and Yukon and KGH Foundation in support of building JoeAnna’s House.
