$200,000 in stolen vehicles recovered from Lillooet property

LILLOOET — Two people have been arrested after police executed a search warrant resulting in the recovery of several stolen vehicles on a Lillooet property.

On April 1, police say a 2005 Peterbilt dump truck was reported stolen to the Tk'emlups RCMP by its owner. The vehicle had been last seen parked near Savona on March 29, an RCMP media release says.

The same vehicle was later seen by the owner on a Lillooet property several days later. Lillooet RCMP obtained a search warrant for the property located on Airport Road and arrested a 63-year-old man and a 44-year-old man.

With the help of an ICBC Special investigator, police recovered approximately $200,000 worth of stolen vehicles as a result of the search warrant.

Both men remain in police custody while awaiting their court appearance scheduled for today, April 9. RCMP say both men are facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime, careless use of a firearm and tampering with a vehicle identification number.
