Case counts are slightly lower than in recent days for COVID-19 in the Interior Health region but there were still 187 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.

For a change, that’s less than half the 395 new cases in B.C. during the same time period. It’s down from a record 275 recorded last Friday.

There were 100 new cases in the Fraser Health region, 61 in Vancouver Coastal, 31 on Vancouver Island, 15 in the Northern Health region and one person who lives outside of Canada, according to a Ministry of Health media release.

Interior Health region has 1,893 of B.C.’s 3,284 active cases. There are 71 people in B.C. hospitals with 23 of those in intensive care units.

There have been no new deaths in the last 24 hours.

The vaccination rate for those over the age of 12 has crept up to 82.1 per cent with 70.6 per cent of residents having received their second dose.
